Woodrow Wilson (1856–1924) was the twenty-eighth president of the United States, serving from 1913 to 1921. He led the country through World War I and proposed the Fourteen Points as a framework for post-war peace, including the creation of the League of Nations — though the U.S. Senate refused to ratify the treaty and the country never joined. The Nineteenth Amendment granting women the right to vote was ratified in 1920 during his presidency. His administration also re-segregated parts of the federal civil service that had been integrated since Reconstruction, dismissing or demoting Black federal employees and imposing racial separation in federal workplaces.
