William McKinley

William McKinley (1843–1901) was the twenty-fifth president of the United States, serving from 1897 until his death on September 14, 1901. His presidency oversaw the Spanish–American War of 1898, which resulted in the United States acquiring Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippines, marking a significant expansion of American presence beyond the continent. He was shot by anarchist Leon Czolgosz on September 6, 1901 at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York, and died eight days later from his wounds.
