30th President of the United States, Republican

Calvin Coolidge

Term: Aug 2, 1923 – Mar 4, 1929

Calvin Coolidge (1872–1933) was the thirtieth president of the United States, serving from 1923 to 1929. He succeeded Warren G. Harding after Harding's death in office and won the 1924 election in his own right. His presidency coincided with a period of economic prosperity known as the "Roaring Twenties," and he pursued policies of reduced government spending and tax cuts. He chose not to seek re-election in 1928. The stock market crash that triggered the Great Depression came seven months after he left office.
