Bill Clinton (born 1946) was the forty-second president of the United States, serving from 1993 to 2001. His two terms saw sustained economic expansion, budget surpluses, and welfare reform legislation. He was impeached by the House of Representatives in December 1998 on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice related to his relationship with a White House intern; the Senate acquitted him in February 1999 and he completed his second term.
